Mariah Carey was a vision of love for Nick Cannon after his Lupus diagnosis.
The Wild 'n Out host reflected on his journey with Lupus, sharing how his then-wife helped him get through his battle with the disease after his 2012 diagnosis.
"She was my rock," he confessed on the Sept. 22 episode of The Diary Of A CEO podcast. "She went hard. To be honest, I probably wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for how hard she went with the doctors, with me, my stubbornness."
In fact, he noted how Mariah—with whom he shares 12-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan—balanced her chart-topping music career with caring for him during the difficult time.
"She was the perfect helpmate," he shared. "The perfect matriarch. The perfect mom. The perfect wife in those scenarios, because granted she's who she is and dealing with all the pressures of being Mariah Carey, but then being loving enough to take on all my stuff."
But Mariah's dedication didn't come as a surprise to the Masked Singer host. "That's what you do when you find a helpmate," he noted. "When you find someone you're in matrimony with, you go hard for them."
And that's exactly what Nick did for Mariah as well, mentioning to host Steven Bartlett, "I went hard for her I still go hard for her I'd lay down my life for her today. That's what you do, it's just family."
However, the 42-year-old admits that his health did put a strain on their marriage, with the pair ultimately finalizing their divorce in 2016.
"It probably took a toll on us just because of the person I was in my head and the struggles that I was dealing with," he confessed. "So, it probably took a toll on our relationship but it definitely brought us closer together."
Since their split, Mariah has found love with dancer Bryan Tanaka. As for the All That alum, he's expanded his family over the last few years and is now a proud dad of 12.
And Nick is no stranger to giving credit where credit is due when it comes to Mariah. After all, he reflected on his six-year-marriage to the Grammy winner and praised her for her giving nature.
"I was 12 years old with Mariah Carey pictures on my wall, and that becomes my wife," he recalled in an interview with The Shade Room at the time. "And the fact that she's the coolest person I ever met. She's just always happy, always doing for others. No matter what's happening in life. I'm like, ‘Wow, a person can really operate like that and don't allow negative energy into they space.' "When I found that out about how remarkable she was, that woman is not human. She's a gift from God."
